[HISTORY: Adopted by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the Town of Dover 7-27-1970 as Art. 21 of the 1969 Revised Ordinances. Amendments noted where applicable.]
A body corporate and politic to be known as the "Housing Authority of the Town of Dover" is hereby created and established pursuant to the provisions of the Local Housing Authorities Law of the State of New Jersey.[1]

The Housing Authority of the Town of Dover shall consist of seven members who shall be appointed and hold office for the terms as hereinafter provided. The Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the Town of Dover shall appoint six Commissioners of the Authority, and one member shall be appointed by the Director of Public Housing and Development Authority. These Commissioners first appointed by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the Town of Dover shall be designated to serve for terms of one, two, three, four and five years, respectively, from the date of their appointment, but thereafter Commissioners so appointed shall hold office for a term of five years, except that all vacancies shall be filled for the unexpired term. The Clerk of the Town of Dover shall file a certified copy of this chapter with the Director of Public Housing and Development Authority in the State Department of Community Affairs. Said Director of Public Housing and Development Authority shall, on receipt of notification of the creation of the Housing Authority of the Town of Dover, appoint one member thereof who shall hold office at his pleasure.

The Housing Authority of the Town of Dover shall constitute an agency and instrumentality of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the Town of Dover. The Housing Authority and its Commissioners shall have the powers and duties specified by the Local Housing Authorities Law of the State of New Jersey, as amended and supplemented from time to time,[1] and they shall be subject to all of the provisions of said Local Housing Authorities Law as amended and supplemented from time to time.
