Noncriminal disposition — Ch. 1.
No person shall fire or discharge any gun, fowling piece or firearm within 200 feet of any street in town or on any private grounds, except with the consent of the owner; provided, however, that this bylaw not apply to the use of such weapons at any military exercise or in the lawful defense of the person, family or property of any citizen.

A. 
No person shall fire or discharge any handgun, rifle, shotgun or any other device or weapon within limits of any park, playground, school or other town property except with the consent of the Select Board.

B. 
No person shall hunt with, fire or discharge any such weapon on any private property except with the written consent of the owner or legal occupant thereof. Such consent shall be renewed annually with a copy sent to the Police Department which shall issue a Boxford landowner's hunting permit. Persons hunting without a Boxford landowner's hunting permit shall be fined up to $150 per occurrence. Land owners or legal occupants discharging weapons on their own land or public safety officers in performance of their duty are exempt from the provisions of this bylaw.
This bylaw shall not apply to the lawful defense of life or property nor to any law enforcement officer acting in the discharge of his duties.
