GENERAL REFERENCES

A. 
No person shall discharge or cause to be discharged any stormwater, surface water, groundwater, roof runoff, subsurface drainage, swimming pool or pool water, individual water softener discharges, sump pump discharges or industrial process waters into any sanitary sewer system pipe or conduit owned and/or operated by the Township of Jefferson or into any approved sewer system as defined in Chapter 391, Sewage Systems, of the Township Code herein.
B. 
Stormwater and all other unpolluted process water or drainage shall be discharged to such sewers as are specifically designated as storm drains or storm sewers or to a natural outlet, provided that all necessary permits are obtained.
C. 
No person shall discharge or cause to be discharged into any sanitary sewer owned or maintained by the Township or into any approved sewer system as defined in Chapter 391, Sewage Systems, any of the following:
(1) 
Gasoline, benzine, naphtha, fuel oil, lubricating oils and greases, flammable or explosive liquids, gases, paint and lacquers, tars, plastics, petroleum products and other viscous substances.
(2) 
Improperly shredded garbage.
(3) 
Abrasives, ashes, cinders, sand, mud, straw, shavings, metal, glass, rags, feathers, tar, plastics or woods.
(4) 
Solid or viscous substances which are capable of causing obstructions in sewers or interference with the proper functioning of the treatment processes.
(5) 
Wastes containing viable pathogenic bacteria other than those normal to domestic sewage.
(6) 
All wastes containing corrosive matters or toxic or poisonous substances in sufficient quantity to injure or interfere with the sewage treatment process or create any hazard to humans, animals, sewers, structures, equipment or personnel of the sewage treatment works.
(7) 
Any noxious, toxic, corrosive or malodorous solids, liquids or gases, which either singly or by interaction with other substances are capable of creating a public nuisance and hazard to life or preventing entry into sewers for their maintenance and repair.
(8) 
Any radioactive isotopes and antibiotic wastes.
(9) 
Any substances with a pH less than 5, with a pH greater than 10 or with a temperature greater than 110° F.
D. 
From and after the effective date of this chapter, no person or persons shall discharge or cause to be discharged any waste from a garbage disposal into any sewer system owned and operated by the Township. Nothing herein, however, shall require any persons who have an existing garbage disposal installed at the time of passage of this chapter to remove said device.
E. 
Any person or persons who have connected to the sanitary sewer system or an approved sewer system, as the same has been defined, any of the devices or discharges as set forth herein shall have 90 days from the effective date of this chapter to disconnect said discharges and to terminate the discharges into the sewer system owned by the Township or into an approved sewer system, as defined, and the provisions of this chapter shall not be enforced against all persons who had such discharges preexisting during said ninety-day period.
A. 
Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate or neglect to comply with any provision of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to a fine not to exceed $500 for each separate violation. Each and every day that a violation continues shall be considered as a separate offense.
B. 
No provision of this chapter shall be construed to impair any common law or statutory cause of action, or legal remedy therefrom, of any person of the Township for injury or damage arising from any violation of this chapter or from other law.
