A Municipal Court for the City of Margate City, New Jersey, is established as of January 1, 1949, pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 264 of the Laws of 1948, as amended and supplemented.[1]

The name of the Municipal Court shall be the "Municipal Court of Margate
City."
The Municipal Court shall have a Seal which shall bear the impress of
the name of the Court.
There shall be a Judge of said Municipal Court, who shall be appointed
by the Board of Commissioners and who shall serve for a term of three years
from the date of his appointment and until his successor is appointed and
qualified.
The Judge of the Municipal Court shall receive such annual salary as
shall be set forth in the annual Salary Ordinance, to be paid in the same
manner as the salaries of the municipal officers are paid, which shall be
in lieu of all fees, costs and any other allowances whatsoever.
Said Municipal Court and the Judge thereof shall have, possess and exercise all the functions, powers, duties and jurisdiction conferred by the provisions of Chapter 264 of the Laws of 1948, as amended and supplemented,[1] or by any other law.

The Municipal Court shall be held in City Hall. The Judge of the Municipal
Court shall sit on the second and fourth Monday of each month from 1:00 p.m.
until the Court calendar is completed, and at such other times as the business
of the Court may require, subject to the rules applicable to municipal courts.

The Office of Municipal Court Administrator is hereby established.
The salary of the Municipal Court Administrator shall be set as set forth
in the annual Salary Ordinance.

The Office of Deputy Municipal Court Administrator is hereby established.
The salary of the Deputy Municipal Court Administrator shall be set as set
forth in the annual Salary Ordinance.
The position of Municipal Prosecutor for the City of Margate City is
hereby established. The salary for said position shall be as set forth in
the annual Salary Ordinance.

All persons applying for representation by a Margate Municipal Public
Defender shall pay an application fee not to exceed $200 at the time of filing
their application. The Municipal Court Administrator is directed to forward
said fee to the City in accordance with appropriate accounting procedures.
