It is the intention of the City of Margate City to create and develop municipal parking lots to assist, help and alleviate parking problems that have developed in the retail, commercial and professional areas in our community and to provide for the safety and convenience of its citizens while shopping in our commercial districts.
The City of Margate City may designate certain lots or tracts of land in the City of Margate City as municipal parking lots in accordance with the Margate City Land Development Ordinance of 1986.[1]

The following vehicles shall be permitted to use the Margate City Municipal Parking Lot:
A. 
Automobiles and station wagons.
B. 
Vans no longer than 18 feet in length.
C. 
Pickup trucks no longer than 18 feet in length.
D. 
Motorcycles and mopeds.
E. 
Delivery trucks no greater than 18 feet in length only when making pickups or deliveries at local area properties.
F. 
Service vehicles no greater than 18 feet in length when providing services to properties within a three-block area of the municipal lot.

A. 
Rules of use of Margate City Municipal Parking Lot during the off-season. Between October 31 and May 1 the Municipal Parking Lot shall be open and available for use in accordance with municipal regulation during daylight hours for all permitted vehicles without charge or limitation.
B. 
Rules of use of the Margate City Municipal Lot during the summer season. Between May 1 and October 31 the following rules shall apply in the operation of said lot:
(1) 
The lot will be open for use by permitted vehicles from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. daily.
(2) 
(Reserved)
(3) 
The public shall be permitted to park their vehicles upon the lot for two-hour periods between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 a.m.
(4) 
The Margate City Municipal Parking Lot will be closed to the general public at 12:00 a.m. and all vehicles must be removed from the lot at that time.
(5) 
The City of Margate shall issue a minimum of 15 parking permits for residents who live in the area of the Margate City Municipal Parking Lot, specifically residents who live on the unit block of North Washington Avenue, the unit block of South Washington Avenue, the unit block of North Decatur Avenue, and Winchester Avenue between Washington and Decatur Avenues. The permit shall grant permission for a resident to park on the Margate City Municipal Parking Lot during the hours of 12:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. daily. Vehicles must be parked on the lot no later than 12:30 a.m. and cannot be removed from the lot until 6:00 a.m. in order to minimize noise and disturbance to the neighbors. The parking permits shall be issued in accordance with Margate City Code § 257-22. The City reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of parking permits issued.
It is the intention of the Commissioners of the City of Margate that with the creation of this municipal parking lot in the City that the lot shall be expressly limited for the use of parking purposes only and at no time will automobile repairs, ballplaying, loitering, cleaning, washing or waxing of vehicles or any other type of such activity be permitted thereon, the only exception to these limitations shall be emergency repairs to a vehicle lawfully parked upon said premises.
The City Commissioners specifically reserve the right to enter into a contract with local merchants for the use of the municipal parking lot between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. for private parking by valet from the businesses in the area.
A. 
Police officers and parking violation officers, in accordance with the instructions issued by the Chief of Police and the regulations promulgated by the Commissioners of the City of Margate City, are to report as follows upon any violation:
(1) 
The number of each parking meter which indicates that the vehicle occupying the parking space adjacent to the parking meter is or has been parked in violation of any of the provisions of this chapter.
(2) 
The license number of such vehicle.
(3) 
That such vehicle is parked in violation of any provisions of this chapter.
(4) 
Any other information which will describe the circumstances attending the violation.
B. 
In making such report, the police officer or parking violation officer shall also attach to such vehicle a notice to the owner thereof that such vehicle has been parked in violation of the provisions of this chapter, with appropriate instructions upon said notice how to comply with the terms of the chapter in such case made and provided.
In addition to the penalty imposed for the violation of any of the provisions of this chapter of any vehicles parked in the municipal parking lot in violation of any of the provisions of this chapter, the Police Department may cause said vehicle to be removed to such place as designated by the Chief of Police. The owner or operator of such vehicle so removed shall pay the reasonable cost and expense of such removal and the storage which may result therefrom, and any person, firm or corporation desiring to reclaim such vehicle may do so by paying the expenses of such removal, storage and violation.
In addition to any other penalties herein provided, any person violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall, upon the conviction thereof by the Municipal Court, be punishable by imprisonment not exceeding 90 days or a fine not exceeding $500, or both.

Rules of use.
(1) 
The Margate City Library and Martin Bloom SC Pavilion Parking Lot shall be for use exclusively by those patronizing the Margate City Library and/or Martin Bloom SC Pavilion.
