The purpose of this chapter is to create the position of Chief Financial Officer in compliance with the requirements established by amendments to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-140.1, also known as the Municipal Finance Certification Bill, which amendments having been signed into law on August 28, 1988.
There is hereby established by the governing body of the Township of Mount Laurel the position of Chief Financial Officer, who shall be under the general supervision and direction of the Township Manager.
The position of Chief Financial Officer is defined as the person who is a certified municipal finance officer appointed by a municipality under Section 5 of P.L. 1988, c. 110,[1] to carry out the responsibilities set forth under P.L. 1947, C. 151 (N.J.S.A. 52:27BB-26 et seq.). The Chief Financial Officer shall be the person responsible for the fiscal records of the Township of Mount Laurel.
