A. 
The Board of Selectmen may make such rules, orders and special regulations with regard to the operation of motor vehicles on town ways as are authorized pursuant to MGL C, 40, § 22, and MGL C. 90, § 18, as amended.
B. 
Any person violating any rule, order or special regulation adopted pursuant to the provisions of this section shall be fined $25 for the first offense, $50 for the second offense and $100 for each subsequent offense.
C. 
This section may be enforced through and pursuant to the noncriminal disposition procedures set forth in Chapter 1, § 1-6, of the Code of the Town of Southwick.
Officers of the Police Department are hereby authorized to direct all traffic either in person, or by means of visible or audible signals. In the event of a fire or other emergency, to expedite traffic or safeguard pedestrians, officers of the Police or Fire Department may direct traffic as conditions may require notwithstanding any restrictive provision of this chapter.
No driver of any vehicle shall disobey instructions of any official traffic control signal, sign, marking, marker or legend unless otherwise directed by a police officer.
The driver of a vehicle or other conveyance approaching an intersection of ways where there exists facing such approaching vehicle an official sign bearing the word "stop" or a flashing red signal, such sign having the written approval of the Department of Public Works, Commonwealth of Massachusetts, such driver shall, before proceeding through the intersection, bring such vehicle or other conveyance to a complete stop. This section shall not apply when the traffic is otherwise directed by an officer.
