[Adopted 12-29-1983 by L.L. No. 1-1984]
The terms of office of Superintendent of Highways and Town Clerk/Tax Collector of the Town of Chatham, Columbia County, New York, are hereby increased from two years to four years, effective with those officers elected at the November 5, 1985, biennial town election.
No term of office of any incumbent shall be extended by the provisions hereof.
This article shall supersede any inconsistent provisions of § 24-a of the Town Law of the State of New York.
This article is subject to a mandatory referendum and shall take effect only upon approval of the affirmative vote of a majority of the qualified electors of the Town of Chatham voting thereon at the general election to be held on November 6, 1984, and upon the subsequent filing thereof as required by law.[1]

The term of office of Supervisor of the Town of Chatham shall be four years, beginning with that Supervisor elected at the November 1987 biennial town election.[1]
