[Adopted 6-26-1996 by L.L. No. 1-1996]
This article should be known as the "Town of Dover Reimbursement for Fire-Suppression Expenditures Law."
A.
This article is adopted pursuant to § 10 of the Municipal Home Rule Law.
B.
It has been determined by the Town Board of the Town of Dover that it is in the interests of the public health, safety and welfare of the residents of the Town of Dover to apply for and receive reimbursement for expenditures incurred during the course of fire-suppression efforts made by the J.H. Ketcham Fire Company or any other fire department engaged to suppress a fire or similar emergency in the Town of Dover.
Where a homeowner or business owner of real property maintains fire insurance which contains provisions that permit the reimbursement of expenditures incurred by a municipality or a fire department in order to suppress a fire, explosion or other hazard condition on said premises, the town may apply for reimbursement of those expenditures to the full extent of the policy coverage for said property.
