[HISTORY: Adopted by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Fairport 7-9-1979 by L.L. No. 4-1979 (Ch. 39 of the 1968 Code); amended in its entirety 5-8-2023 by L.L. No. 6-2023. Subsequent amendments noted where applicable.]
The Board of Trustees of the Village of Fairport, recognizing that there may well exist a difficulty in securing the best person for a particular appointive Village office if the person eligible to serve is restricted to Village residents and acting under the authority granted by § 3-300 of the Village Law of the State of New York, has determined that any appointed Village official need not reside within the Village of Fairport but must reside within the County of Monroe.
Any appointed Village official of the Village of Fairport that is a paid employee and considered to be staff shall be a resident of the County of Monroe.
Any appointed Village official of the Village of Fairport who is a member of the Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, Historic Preservation Commission or the Tree Board shall be a resident of the Village of Fairport.
Any appointed Commissioner of the Village of Fairport who is a member of the Fairport Municipal Commission shall reside in the Fairport Municipal Commission franchise (service area) and be a customer of the Fairport Municipal Commission (Fairport Electric). There shall be no more than two Commissioners appointed that reside outside of the Village of Fairport.
