The purpose of the Local Commercial District is to sustain and promote commercial businesses along major transportation corridors that are typically local in character. These businesses serve the surrounding community and tend to be smaller and generate less traffic than regional businesses. They may be stand-alone businesses, such as car dealerships and restaurants, or groups of small businesses occupying a strip center development. Because the Comprehensive Plan does not envision expansion of large retail and other large-scale business throughout these corridors, permitted uses are limited in character, size and scale.

Principal uses permitted by right in the Local Commercial District are listed in the Table of Uses located in Article II, Table 1.
B. 
Special exceptions allowed within the Local Commercial District are listed in the Table of Uses located in Article II, Table 1, and shall meet the criteria set forth for such uses established in Article XXVI.
C. 
Accessory uses permitted by right or as a special exception in the Local Commercial District are listed in the Table of Accessory Uses located in Article II, Table 2. Requirements applicable to accessory uses in the district are located in Article II, § 87-17, and in Table 4.
The bulk and area standards in the Local Commercial District are set forth in Article II, Tables 3 and 4.

Parking and loading requirements are set forth in Article XXI.

Signage requirements are set forth in Article XXII.

Landscaping and buffering standards are set forth in Article XXIII.

Timber harvesting and logging shall be conducted in accordance with Article XXIV.
