The administration of the health laws in the Township of Marple, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, shall be vested in and enforced by a Board of Health.
The Board of Health shall be composed of five members, to be appointed by the Township Commissioners. At the first appointment, one member shall be appointed to serve for one year, one for two years, one for three years, one for four years and one for five years, and thereafter one member shall in like manner be appointed in each year to serve for five years.
The members of the Board shall serve without compensation; provided, however, that if any of the members thereof are appointed as Secretary, such person shall be entitled to receive such salary as may be fixed by the Board for that office. At least one member of such Board shall be a reputable physician of not less than one year's experience in the practice of his profession.
It shall be the duty of the Board of Health to enforce the laws of the commonwealth and the regulations of the State Department of Health, any and all ordinances of the Township of Marple and such other rules and regulations relating to public health or for the abatement and removal of nuisances and to make such rules and regulations as shall be deemed necessary for the preservation of public health.
Such Board of Health and/or any officer appointed by it shall perform its duties and administer its functions in accordance with the provisions of the Act or Acts of Assembly in such case made and provided and as the same from time to time may be amended.
