Article I Conversion to Use by Town

§ 207-1 Authority to convert or transfer title to abandoned vehicles.

This article shall authorize conversion to the town's own use and title those abandoned vehicles having a monetary value greater than $750 pursuant to the authority of § 1224, Subdivision 6, of the Vehicle and Traffic Law of the State of New York, or to transfer title to any of such vehicles by sale or gift to any other municipal corporation for use by its law enforcement agency; provided, however, that the total number of vehicles converted and/or transferred in any calendar year may not exceed 1% of the local authority's unclaimed abandoned vehicles not affected by § 1224, Subdivision 2, of the Vehicle and Traffic Law of the State of New York or two such vehicles, whichever is greater.
