A. 
There shall be appointed by the Board of Trustees a Building Inspector. The duties of the Building Inspector, in addition to those prescribed by law and those which may be assigned or required by the Board of Trustees, shall be to inspect the construction and alteration of all plumbing work performed in the village for the sole purpose of ascertaining whether such work complies with the provisions of this code and to keep a report in writing of the results of such inspections.

B. 
He shall issue all permits and other certificates required in connection with the plumbing work and shall file regular reports with the Board of Trustees and the Plumbing Board of all permits, certificates and other authorizations that he may issue. Such reports shall be filed at the discretion of the Board of Trustees.

The Building Inspector shall, as soon as possible after being notified (on form provided), make the necessary inspections as required by this code.

During the absence from duty of the Building Inspector, an Assistant Building Inspector holding temporary appointment shall be named by the Board of Trustees or its designated representative to act during the absence of the Building Inspector.

In no case shall a Building Inspector or an Assistant Building Inspector inspect work done by himself or under his management. Every village employee shall be subject to the Village Code of Ethics.[1]
