Village of Massapequa Park, NY Article V Snow Emergencies

§ 322-27 Purpose.

A. This article is being enacted to ensure better service for the residents of our Village on streets in order to ensure the safe passage for residents and emergency vehicles during a snow emergency.

B. This article is further being enacted to ensure access to all major highways and public facilities and to ensure quick plowing and early widening of our Village streets for snow removal.

§ 322-28 Declaration of snow emergency; scope.

A snow emergency will be declared on all Village streets when the National Weather Service predicts a snowfall of three inches or more, or when the Mayor declares a snow emergency for the area.

§ 322-29 Parking restrictions.

A. Parking will only be allowed and permitted on one side of all Village streets during said snow emergency as follows:

(1) During a snow emergency occurring in even-numbered years, parking will be permitted on the even-numbered side of streets.

(2) During a snow emergency occuring in odd-numbered years, parking will be permitted on the odd-numbered side of streets.

B. One-side parking shall rotate with each year's snow season so that the burden upon our residents will be equally divided.

§ 322-30 Notices of violation.

Notices of violation of this article shall be given to the owner of the vehicle involved in such violation.
