Pursuant to the provisions of § 1556
of the Real Property Tax Law, the three offices of Assessor of the
Town of Shandaken, Ulster County, New York, shall continue and shall
be elective as provided by the law in effect immediately prior to
the effective date of said § 1556.
This chapter shall be submitted for the approval
of the electors of the Town of Shandaken, Ulster County, New York,
at a special election to be held in accordance with the provisions
of the Municipal Home Rule Law, except that such special election
shall be held not later than July 1, 1971.[1]

a special election held on June 5, 1971.
This chapter shall become effective on the 20th day after approval thereof by the electors of the Town of Shandaken, New York, at the special election specified in § 7-2 hereof and after filing and publication as required by said Municipal Home Rule Law.
