The Mayor, with the consent of Borough Council, shall appoint a Tax Assessor and such Deputy Tax Assessors as may be necessary and shall fix the compensation of such Assessor or Assessors, as the case may be, by ordinance.[1]

The Municipal Tax Assessor and Deputy Tax Assessor, if any, shall hold such office for a term of four years from the first day of July next following their appointment.
The Municipal Tax Assessor and Deputy Tax Assessor, if any, shall hold a Tax Assessor Certificate, provided for in Chapter 44 of the Laws of 1967 (N.J.S.A. 54:1-35.25 et seq.) and shall have the duty of assessing property for the duty of general taxation.
