Town of Phillipsburg, NJ Chapter 9 Civil Service

§ 9-1 Positions created.

The classes of positions and the duties therefor, set forth as part of this chapter by reference to the three separate and distinct schedules prepared by the New Jersey Civil Service Commission, are hereby created.

§ 9-2 Salary ranges adopted.

The salary ranges specified in amended Schedule 3 and the service increments specified in amended Section 5 of Schedule 3 are hereby adopted as and for each class of position mentioned in said schedule and the increment payments contained therein are contingent on the availability funds.

§ 9-3 Town Council prerogative.

The Town Council of the Town of Phillipsburg reserves the right to pay a salary to any new employee at any figure given in the schedules affecting said new employee, and not necessarily the first figure of said schedules.

§ 9-4 Decreases not to be affected.

The adoption of this chapter shall not operate so as to decrease the present pay of any officer or employee, anything in said schedules to the contrary notwithstanding.

§ 9-5 Increases contingent upon performance.

The adoption of this chapter shall operate to provide increments only to those employees who have satisfactorily performed the duties of their positions.

§ 9-6 Effective date of schedules.

The prescribed salary and service increments for employees as set forth in amended Schedule 3 shall be effective as of January 1, 1975.

§ 9-7 Pay and pay periods.

The salaries and rates of pay shall be paid biweekly to said officers and employees respectively in equal installments and shall be paid in lieu of all fees received by such officers and employees, which fees shall be paid into the treasury of the Town.

§ 9-8 Incorporation by reference.

Schedules 1 and 2 and amended Schedule 3 referred to herein are hereby made part of this chapter in their entirety, the same as though specifically set forth herein. Said schedules shall be filed with the Municipal Clerk of the Town of Phillipsburg, New Jersey, coincident with the passage of this ordinance.
