[HISTORY: Adopted by the Township Committee of the Township of Weymouth 12-29-1980 by Ord. No. 243-80 as Ch. II, Sec. 2-9, of the 1980 Revised General Ordinances. Amendments noted where applicable.]
A. 
Because of the existing and increasing possibility of the occurrence of disasters of unprecedented size and destructiveness resulting from enemy attack, sabotage, or other hostile action, or from fire, flood, earthquake or other natural causes, and in order to ensure that preparations of this Township will be adequate to deal with such disasters, and generally to provide for the common defense and to protect the public peace, health, and safety, and to preserve the lives and property of the people of this Township, it is hereby found and declared to be necessary:
(1) 
To create a Civil Defense Agency.
(2) 
To provide for the rendering of mutual aid to other cities within the State of New Jersey, and those adjoining states, and to cooperate with the State Government with respect to carrying out civil defense functions.
B. 
It is further declared to be the purpose of this section and the policy of this Township, that all civil defense functions of this Township be coordinated to the maximum extent with the comparable functions of the state government, including its various departments and agencies, of other cities and localities, and of private agencies of every type, to the end that the most effective preparation and use may be made of this Township's manpower, resources and facilities for dealing with any disaster that may occur.
C. 
It is further declared to be the purpose of this section, and the policy of this Township, to organize its civil defense organization in conformity with the New Jersey Civil Defense Act as directed by Public Law 1942, Chapter 251, as amended.[1]

It shall be the duty of the organization for civil defense established pursuant to this section, and of the officers thereof, to execute and enforce such orders, rules and regulations, as may be made by the Chairman under authority of this section. Such organization shall have available for inspection at its office, all orders, rules and regulations made by the Chairman, or under his authority.
