The Town Treasurer shall receive, hold and apply such funds, moneys and securities as may be deposited with the Town for the preservation, care, improvement and embellishment of any public or private burial place or of burial lots situated therein, which funds, moneys and securities shall be entered upon the books of the Treasurer and held in accordance with the request of the respective depositors. The Treasurer shall deposit all such funds, moneys and securities in some reliable interest-paying institution in this commonwealth.

It shall be the duty of the Select Board to annually appoint one or more trustees, who shall expend such income for the purposes indicated by the respective depositors thereof. He/she shall give a bond to the satisfaction of the Select Board, conditioned for the faithful performance of his duties. He/she shall be paid such sum, not exceeding $2 a day for each day actually spent in the performance of his/her duties, as the Select Board may decide, which shall be deducted from said income of the principal fund. He/she may annually draw orders upon the Town Treasurer to an amount not exceeding such income.
The preceding action shall not be construed to affect any deposit heretofore received by the Town in trust for the purposes named by the donor nor any directions that may have been given as to the expenditure thereof.
The Town Treasurer shall keep a separate account with each such trust fund and shall annually pay orders drawn upon him by the trustees to the amount hereinbefore provided and shall annually report the condition of such account to the Town.
