[HISTORY: Adopted by the Municipal Council of the Municipality of Monroeville 2-11-1997 by Ord. No. 2024. Amendments noted where applicable.]
A certain document, three copies of which are on file in the office of the Municipal Manager of the Municipality of Monroeville, being marked and designated as the "International Mechanical Code/1996," as published by the International Code Council, is hereby adopted as the Mechanical Code of the Municipality of Monroeville in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for the installation, design, alterations, repair and maintenance of all mechanical equipment systems and devices in all structures, buildings and premises as herein provided; and each and all of the regulations, provisions, penalties, conditions and terms of said International Mechanical Code are hereby referred to, adopted and made a part of this chapter.
Ordinance No. 1582 of the Municipality of Monroeville and all other ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
A. 
The following sections are hereby revised as follows:
(1) 
Section 106.5.2 is amended as follows:
106.5.2 Fee schedule: Fees shall be in accordance with the current Fee Ordinance of the Municipality of Monroeville.[1]

(2) 
Section 506.1.2 is added as follows:
506.1.2 Two-hour fan time delay: All exhaust fan motors shall be equipped with a two-hour time delay electrical time controller. The fan must continue to operate for a two-hour period after the electrical shutoff switch has been placed in the off position.
B. 
Any person who shall violate a provision of this chapter or shall fail to comply with any of the requirements thereof or who shall erect, construct, alter or repair a building or structure in violation of an approved plan or directive of the Code Official, or of a permit or certificate issued under the provisions of this code, shall be guilty of a summary offense, punishable by a fine of not more than $500 or by imprisonment not exceeding 60 days, or both such fine and imprisonment. Each day that a violation continues shall be deemed a separate offense.
C. 
Any person who shall continue any work in or about the structure after having been served with a stop-work order, except such work as that person is directed to perform to remove a violation or unsafe condition, shall be liable to a fine on not less than $300 nor more than $500.
D. 
The qualifications of the Board of Appeals shall conform to Monroeville Ordinance No. 1614.[2]

Nothing in this chapter or in the International Mechanical Code hereby adopted shall be construed to affect any suit or proceeding impending in any court or any rights acquired, liability incurred, or any cause or causes of action acquired or existing under any act or ordinance hereby repealed as cited in § 254-2 of this chapter; nor shall any just or legal right or remedy of any character be lost, impaired or affected by this chapter.
The office of the Manager shall certify to the adoption of this chapter and cause the same to be published as required by law; and this chapter shall take full force and effect immediately after this date of final passage and approval. With the exception that buildings or structures, or portions thereof of which plans have previously been submitted to the Building Department of the Municipality of Monroeville or the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, shall be permitted to be constructed under the provisions of the code in force at the time of approval by the involved departments.
All plans not previously submitted for approval or already approved as of the legal adoption of this chapter shall meet the provisions of the International Mechanical Code/1996.
