[HISTORY: Adopted by the Borough Council of the Borough of Norristown
4-6-1982 as Ch. 35 of the 1981 Code. Amendments noted where applicable.]
The Montgomery County - Norristown Public Library, being established
to provide free public library service, is hereby authorized and designated
the library to act as the agent for the Borough of Norristown to provide public
library service to the residents and taxpayers of the Borough of Norristown
for and on behalf of the Borough of Norristown.
The Borough Council of the Borough of Norristown shall assist in the
maintenance of the Montgomery County - Norristown Public Library in accordance
with the provisions of Section 401 of the Library Code, the Act of June 14,
1961, P.L. 324, as amended.[1]

In accordance with Section 411 of the Library Code,[1] the Borough Council will appoint two (2) persons to serve as the
representatives of the Borough of Norristown on the Board of Directors of
the Montgomery County - Norristown Public Library, each representative to
serve three (3) years, said terms expiring in different years.

In accordance with Section 412 of the Library Code,[1] the Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the library shall give
bond to the Borough of Norristown with satisfactory surety in such manner
as the Board of Directors may determine.

The Board of Directors shall prepare and present to the Borough Council
of the Borough of Norristown, by November 1 of each year, a budget for the
following year and such reports as are required by Sections 413 and 414 of
the Library Code.[1]

The Montgomery County - Norristown Public Library shall give free library
service to the residents and taxpayers of the Borough of Norristown as provided
in Section 415 of the Library Code.[1]

The Board of Directors of the Montgomery County - Norristown Public
Library shall indicate its acceptance of the designation as agent of the Borough
of Norristown as set forth under the terms and conditions of this chapter
by passing a resolution which shall be submitted to the Council forthwith.
