Housing discrimination — See Ch. 296.
The words "rooming house," when used in this chapter, shall mean any rooming house, motel, hotel or tourist home in the city.
The operator of each rooming house shall keep a list of all occupants in a permanent record book which shall be available for inspection by representatives of the Licensing Bureau.
All persons located in the city who operate a rooming house shall register with the city at the Bureau of Licensing, each year, no later than thirty (30) days after entering into the business.

The fee for each permit hereunder shall be as follows:
A. 
One (1) to fifty (50) rooms, per room: twenty-five dollars ($25.).
B. 
Fifty-one (51) or more rooms: two thousand dollars ($2,000.).
No transfer of a license issued under this chapter shall be made, and new owners or operators shall notify the housing officers within twelve (12) days of new ownership of any such rooming house.
The license shall expire at the end of the calendar year in which it is issued and shall be renewed annually at the rate established for the initial fee.
The license obtained under this chapter shall be posted in a conspicuous place in the rooming house.

Any person, firm or corporation who or which shall violate any provision of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than six hundred dollars ($600.) per violation and not less than three hundred dollars ($300.) per violations and/or imprisonment not to exceed ninety (90) days. Each day said violation exists constitutes a separate violation. Any person, firm or corporation found guilty of not remitting the proper permit fee for the year, in addtion to any fine imposed, shall pay the fee.
