[HISTORY: Adopted by the Town of North Haven 6-14-1972 Special Town Meeting. Amendments noted where applicable.]
There is hereby established a public library for the Town of North Haven, to be known as the "North Haven Memorial Library."
The management of said public library shall be vested in a Board of Directors, which shall consist of nine electors of the town to be appointed by a majority vote of the Board of Selectmen upon passage of this ordinance. Three of such newly appointed Directors shall serve until the first business day of January 1974, three until the first business day of January 1976 and three until the first business day of January 1978. Following the general town election of November 1973 and each biennial town election thereafter, the Board of Selectmen, by a majority vote, shall appoint three Directors for a six-year term, which term shall commence the first business day of January following such town election.
Such appointed Board of Directors shall have the same powers, duties and responsibilities relating to such public library as are and be from time to time prescribed and set forth in the Connecticut General Statutes for elected Library Directors.
When the Library Building Committee has, in its opinion, concluded its duties and responsibilities relating to the construction of the public library, unexpended funds from those previously appropriated at the Special Town Meeting of July 20, 1970, may be utilized by said Board of Directors for any equipping, furnishing and other incidental expenses pertaining or relating to said library, all as provided and in accordance with the terms and conditions of said appropriation.
