For the purposes of this chapter, the terms
used herein are defined as follows:
The Borough of Wanaque.
Any "library" or collection supported in whole or in part
by public funds of the borough, and any free public "library" created
pursuant to the provisions of R.S. 40:54-1, et seq.
A Library Board of Trustees shall be appointed
by the Mayor, pursuant to statute, and shall have full custody and
control of public library property pursuant to statute.
No person shall retain or fail to return any
book or article borrowed from any library in the borough, contrary
to the rules and regulations of such library.
If any person retains or fails to return any
book or article, he shall be first notified in person or in writing
of his failure to return said book or article as per rules and regulations
of the library before any complaint shall be made for violation of
this chapter.
No person shall damage or destroy, or permit
to be damaged or destroyed, any book or other article or any part
thereof which is owned by or is in the custody of the library.
No person shall register or furnish a false
name or address, or use any card other than the one issued to said
person, for the purpose of borrowing any book or other article from
the library.
Every person convicted of a violation of a provision
of this chapter or any supplement or amendment thereto shall be liable,
to a penalty or fine of not more than $15 for the first offense and
a penalty or fine of not more than $500 for the second and each succeeding
offense.
