Upon the occurrence of the death of a participant, there shall be benefits payable in accord with the following sections of this Article VI.
If a participant shall die without eligibility for a survivor benefit as described in § 57-26, prior to the commencement of the payment of any retirement or other benefits under this plan, the beneficiary shall be entitled to receive a distribution of the participant's accumulated contributions determined as of the date of death of the participant.
The surviving spouse of a participant who shall
die after the payment of any retirement or other benefits under this
plan have commenced while an employee of the employer shall, during
the surviving spouse's lifetime or until remarriage, be entitled to
receive a pension calculated at the rate of 50% of the pension which
the employee was receiving or would have been receiving had such participant
been retired at the time of death.
