The Common Seal of the Borough of South Plainfield
shall be in accordance with the design hereto annexed and made part
hereof and may be described as follows: A dominating circle which
shall contain the following elements: Within the outer circle shall
be the words "Borough of South Plainfield, N.J." Separating this from
the words "Incorporated: Mar. 10, 1926" shall be two stars, which
shall signify the two major political parties which were instrumental
in the founding and development of the Borough. The inner circle shall
be trisected by a double line running horizontally through the circle,
branching at the center and arching to the upper left. This line shall
represent the railroad which passes through the Borough. Superimposed
on this line shall be a gear at right center, representative of industry,
dependent on said railroad. Dominating the upper half of the center
circle shall be a hand holding rolled paper, representative of planning.
Superimposed over this shall be a key since planning is the key to
the future. The inner circle shall also contain in its smallest tripart
a home, representative of the importance of family life, community
spirit and religious unity. The lower tripart of the inner circle
shall bear the words VISION-FAMILY-INDUSTRY, which sum up the entire
theme of the Seal.

The Common Seal of the Borough of South Plainfield
as herein set forth may be used on official stationery or for other
purposes as decided by the Mayor and Borough Council by resolution,
in conjunction with the Seal of the great State of New Jersey; and
when so used it shall be designed in the following manner: two intersecting
circles, left of which shall bear the crest of the great State of
New Jersey and right or dominating circle shall be that of the Common
Seal of the Borough of South Plainfield.

The Borough Seal shall be kept in the office of the
Borough Clerk, who shall have care and custody of the same under the
direction of the Mayor.

Original art on said Seal shall be properly preserved
in appropriately copied form in more than one place and shall be on
file in the Public Library, but shall not be reproduced without the
written consent of the Mayor and Council.
