Street address numbers shall be provided for each dwelling and each business, industrial, and other buildings in the Town of Stoughton by the owner of such structures by 90 days after approval of the Attorney General in accordance with the following:
A. 
The numbers shall be made of permanent weatherproof material, shall be at least three inches in height and shall be clearly visible from the street or roadway upon which the dwelling or building fronts.
B. 
The numbers shall be placed on each structure or on a suitable support near the main entrance to the structure so as to be visible.
C. 
The numbers shall be those assigned to each structure in accordance with the street numbering policy on file in the office of the Building Inspector.
The owner of any property seeking a building permit for a new building or structure shall apply for and receive a building number designation from the Building Inspector prior to submitting application to the Building Inspector for a permit, and no building permit shall be issued without designation of such building number.
It shall be the responsibility of each property owner in the Town to obtain a number assigned to his affected structure or structures within three months of the effective date of this chapter.
Any owner who violates this chapter and after being notified of the violation by the Building Inspector, in writing, permits said violation to continue for 30 days after receipt of notice, may be punished by a fine of not more than $50. For purposes of this chapter, each successive day during which any violation is committed or continued shall be deemed a separate offense.
