[Adopted 5-11-1987]
Effective 12:00 midnight on December 31, 1987,
the elective office of Tax Collector for the Town of Athens shall
be abolished, and thereafter it shall be the duty of the Town Clerk
of the Town of Athens to collect and receive all state, county and
Town taxes and assessments that may be levied in the Town of Athens,
and the Town Clerk of the Town of Athens shall have all the powers
and be subject to all the duties of a collector with respect to the
collection of such taxes, the deposit of receipts and the return of
unpaid taxes, all as provided by law.
