The Town of Bethany shall adopt the following described device as the Corporate Seal of the Town of Bethany, County of New Haven, State of Connecticut. The device shall be a perfect circle within which shall appear another circle. The inner circle shall be a circle of rope. In the upper aspects of the Seal shall appear the words "TOWN . OF . BETHANY CONNECTICUT" in two curved lines of print bordering the inner aspect of the rope circle. On the bottom of the seal also bordering the inner aspect of the rope circle shall appear the words "INCORPORATED . 1832." The aforementioned words shall form the top and bottom portion of a third inner circle, the sides of which shall be made of a string of five inverted oak leaves on each side. Within the third innermost circle, there shall be a roadway bisecting the Seal from front to rear. On the right of center shall be the Christ Episcopal Church, and to the left of center shall be the First Church of Christ Congregational and carriage shed. There shall be trees surrounding the churches. The Seal shall be blue on a white background, which colors shall hereinafter be the official colors of the Seal of the Town of Bethany.
The following design is hereby adopted as the official and standard design of such Corporate Seal:
The Town Clerk shall cause the design of such Seal to be engraved upon metal as the Seal of the town and shall affix the same, as necessary; and shall also provide the Seal for all other officers of the town who are required or authorized to have or use the Corporate Seal of the town.
A.
Such Seal shall be used for all requisite purposes. All representations thereof, impressed or printed on documents, publications or stationery, issued or used by or in the name of or under the authority of the town, its agencies or departments, carved or otherwise represented on buildings or structures owned by the town or otherwise officially portrayed, shall be in exact conformity with the aforesaid standard design without alteration or addition. Defaced and canceled Seals shall remain in the custody of the Town Clerk.
B.
Use of said Seal or any facsimile thereof for other than official town purposes is prohibited unless the written permission of the Board of Selectmen is granted.
