[HISTORY: Adopted by the Special Town Meeting of the Town
of Bethany 11-17-1988. Amendments noted where applicable.]
The Town of Bethany shall adopt the following described device
as the Corporate Seal of the Town of Bethany, County of New Haven,
State of Connecticut. The device shall be a perfect circle within
which shall appear another circle. The inner circle shall be a circle
of rope. In the upper aspects of the Seal shall appear the words "TOWN
. OF . BETHANY CONNECTICUT" in two curved lines of print bordering
the inner aspect of the rope circle. On the bottom of the seal also
bordering the inner aspect of the rope circle shall appear the words "INCORPORATED
. 1832." The aforementioned words shall form the top and bottom portion
of a third inner circle, the sides of which shall be made of a string
of five inverted oak leaves on each side. Within the third innermost
circle, there shall be a roadway bisecting the Seal from front to
rear. On the right of center shall be the Christ Episcopal Church,
and to the left of center shall be the First Church of Christ Congregational
and carriage shed. There shall be trees surrounding the churches.
The Seal shall be blue on a white background, which colors shall hereinafter
be the official colors of the Seal of the Town of Bethany.
The Town Clerk shall cause the design of such Seal to be engraved
upon metal as the Seal of the town and shall affix the same, as necessary;
and shall also provide the Seal for all other officers of the town
who are required or authorized to have or use the Corporate Seal of
the town.

Such Seal shall be used for all requisite purposes. All representations
thereof, impressed or printed on documents, publications or stationery,
issued or used by or in the name of or under the authority of the
town, its agencies or departments, carved or otherwise represented
on buildings or structures owned by the town or otherwise officially
portrayed, shall be in exact conformity with the aforesaid standard
design without alteration or addition. Defaced and canceled Seals
shall remain in the custody of the Town Clerk.

Use of said Seal or any facsimile thereof for other than official
town purposes is prohibited unless the written permission of the Board
of Selectmen is granted.
