A.
The functions and responsibilities of the Department of Public Works
are as follows:
(1)
The construction and maintenance of the streets, bridges, curbs and
gutters of the Borough;
(2)
Street cleaning and snow and ice control;
(3)
The collection and disposal of refuse;
(4)
The construction and maintenance of storm and sanitary sewer structures;
(5)
The installation and maintenance of traffic control devices and signs,
street name signs and parking meters;
(6)
The construction and maintenance of parks and park facilities;
(7)
The planting and maintenance of trees and other vegetation along
municipal rights-of-way and other property of the Borough;
(8)
The maintenance of and custodial services for all Borough buildings
and Borough-owned public facilities;
(9)
The performance of inspection and related procedures to ensure proper
maintenance and repair of sidewalks in accordance with law and ordinance;
(10)
The repair and maintenance of all Borough vehicles, which maintenance
may be performed by private persons, as directed by the Manager or
by need in case of emergency; and
(11)
The control of rodents and other pests in the Borough.
The Manager shall be the head of the Department of Public Works
and may appoint a Superintendent of Public Works, who shall be responsible
to the Manager for the performance of the functions of the Department.
