After the effective date of this chapter, no person, firm or corporation shall install or cause to be installed an audible burglar alarm system that does not include a device for automatically silencing the audible portion of said system after it has sounded for 30 minutes.
If an audible alarm system that is already installed as of the effective date of this chapter sounds a false alarm three times in a calendar year, the owner of the premises where said system is installed shall install or cause to be installed a device that automatically silences the audible alarm of said system after it has sounded for 30 minutes. Said installation of such device shall occur within 30 days following notification to the owner by the Police Department that said device shall be required pursuant to this chapter.
Any person, firm or corporation having any alarm system, whether audible or not, shall maintain with the Police Department an emergency notification list with the name, address and telephone number of at least two persons with authority and ability to secure said alarmed premises in the event of an emergency.
No more than three false alarms in any three-month period shall be permitted whether the system is automatic or manually operated or is audible or reports to the Police Department via central station or direct line upon activation by the owner, his agent or employee.
Any person, firm or corporation in violation of any section of this chapter shall be fined not more than $50 for each violation. Each day of maintaining an audible alarm in violation of this chapter shall constitute a separate violation.
