Smoking and use of tobacco products is prohibited throughout
the facilities owned and operated by the Village of Carthage, to include
all Village-owned vehicles and equipment.
A.
Smoking and the use of tobacco products are permitted only in outdoor
areas designated by the department head; provided, however, that there
shall be no smoking or tobacco products used in the outdoor areas
adjacent to the Village Municipal Building.
B.
Employees smoking or using tobacco products outside of the outdoor
areas designated for such use shall be considered in violation of
this policy and may be subject to disciplinary penalties.
A.
Department heads of the Village of Carthage shall be designated agents
to assist in the enforcement of this policy by notifying employees
who are in violation.
B.
Conflicts should be brought to the attention of the appropriate department
head and, if necessary, referred to the Village Board for a final
decision.
A copy of these rules will be posted and distributed to all
employees and all prospective employees upon request.
