As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
FIREARM
Any weapon or device from which is propelled any missile, projectile, bullet, shot, pellet or other mass, by means of firing an explosive charge within the weapon or device. Firearms include, but are not limited to, rifles, shotguns, pistols and revolvers, either antique or modern, as well as modern copies of antique firearms.
No person shall fire or discharge a firearm within the boundaries of the Village.
No person shall fire or discharge a firearm outside the boundaries of the Village so as to allow any missile, projectile, bullet, shot, pellet or other mass to travel inside the boundaries of the Village, or in a manner which causes property damage or personal injury within the boundaries of the Village.
A police officer or other law enforcement official of the state or of the United States authorized to carry firearms in the course of his lawful duties may discharge a firearm within the Village limits without violating §§ 190-2 and 190-3 of this chapter, and a person may discharge a firearm if acting in the lawful defense of property or person without violating §§ 190-2 and 190-3 of this chapter.
