Disorderly conduct — See Ch. 157.
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
FIREARM
Includes any shotgun, pistol, flintlock, BB gun or air pistol, including any and all handguns or rifles designed to propel a missile, regardless of the caliber thereof.
The discharge or firing of any firearm as described in § 185-1 of this chapter, except in necessary defense of person or property, is hereby prohibited on the properties of the Borough of Girard, provided that this prohibition shall not apply to any law enforcement officer in the performance of his or her duties.[1]

Target practice is forbidden on properties owned by the Borough of Girard.
The Borough of Girard does recognize the statewide safety zone for firearms hunters, which is 150 yards from any house, residence or other building. The statewide archery and crossbow safety zone is 50 yards. Also, the safety zone for all hunters, both firearms and archery, is 150 yards from any playground, school, nursery school or day-care center.
Any person who shall violate any provision of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $600, plus costs of prosecution, and, in default of payment of such fine and costs, to imprisonment for not more than 30 days.
