This chapter shall be cited as the "Borough of Girard Zoning
Ordinance."
Unless the context requires otherwise, words used in this chapter shall have the meanings set forth in Article
VI of this chapter.
The community development objectives, which are the basis for
the provisions of this chapter, are set forth in the Comprehensive
Plan, as adopted and amended by the Borough Council.
A map entitled "Official Borough of Girard Zoning Map" is hereby
adopted as a part of this chapter. The Zoning Map shall be kept on
file for examination in the office of the Borough Manager in the Girard
Borough Building.
No structure shall be located, erected, constructed, reconstructed,
moved, razed, altered, converted, or enlarged, nor shall any structure
or land be used, except in full compliance with all the provisions
of this chapter and after the lawful issuance of all permits and certificates
required by this chapter.
This chapter is adopted by virtue of the authority vested in
the Borough and set forth in the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning
Code, Act 247 of 1968, 53 P.S. § 10101 et seq., as amended,
for the purpose of protecting the public health, safety, morals and
general welfare.
The established zoning districts within this chapter are designed
to achieve the intent of the Girard Borough portion of the Girard-Lake
City Area Background Analysis and Comprehensive Plan, and more specifically
the Girard Borough Land Use Plan Map of this Comprehensive Plan, which
was adopted by Borough Council July 16, 1979.
