A.
The State's Attorney for Allegany County shall appoint, subject
to the approval of the County Commissioner of Allegany County, a competent
person to be known as the "County Investigator."
B.
The County Investigator shall work directly under the supervision
of the State's Attorney and shall perform such duties as the
State's Attorney may designate from time to time.
C.
The County Investigator shall not be a civil service employee or
a member of the County's classified service and shall be disciplined
and/or discharged for cause pursuant to the Rules and Regulations
Governing Employees of Allegany County, Maryland, adopted July 31,
1997, as amended.
D.
The County Investigator shall have the power of arrest and all the
common law and statutory powers of a police officer in Allegany County,
Maryland.
E.
The County Investigator shall receive a salary in an amount to be
recommended by the State's Attorney and approved by the County
Commissioners.
F.
The County Investigator shall be entitled to the same health insurance,
life insurance, retirement benefits, and paid leave as established
for comparable County employees by the Rules and Regulations Governing
Employees of Allegany County, Maryland, adopted July 31, 1997, as
amended.

A.
Expenses. The County Commissioners for Allegany County are hereby
directed, authorized and empowered to pay the office expenses, including
rent, stationery, printing, telephone, stamps, necessary stenographic
services and any other expense, that may be essential for the proper
maintenance of the office of the State's Attorney and also any
other expense necessary and incident to the maintenance and conduct
of said office as may be, in their opinion, reasonable and proper,
and the County Commissioners shall levy for the same as expenses of
the State's Attorney's office. These bills must be presented
directly to the County Commissioners, made out and sworn to on the
regular forms now in use by the County Commissioners and must be certified
to by the State's Attorney, and all false swearings in such reports
and affidavits shall be deemed perjury and punished as such.
B.
Assistants. The County Commissioners of Allegany County are hereby authorized and empowered to appoint the number of Assistant State's Attorneys as, in the opinion of the Commissioners, is necessary to assist the State's Attorney in the conduct of his office. The County Commissioners of Allegany County are hereby directed, authorized and empowered to determine the salaries of Assistant State's Attorneys and to pay such necessary expenses as are incident to the maintenance and conduct of their offices as, in the opinion of the Commissioners, are reasonable and proper and shall levy for the same, including the salaries for any Assistant State's Attorneys so appointed, as expenses of the State's Attorney's office. Bills for these expenses must be presented and certified to by the State's Attorney in the same manner provided for in Subsection A of this section.
