[Ord. 2004-2, 6/7/2005]
1.Â
The water system of Londonderry Township is provided in accordance
with an intermunicipal agreement with the Boroughs of Royalton and
Middletown, provisions of which shall be in effect for users of the
Londonderry Township water system.
2.Â
No connections shall be made to the water system of the Township
unless and until the property owner or appropriate representative
has made application for a connection permit in the manner hereinafter
provided and until such permit has been duly issued.
3.Â
The application for connection to the Township Water System shall
be submitted on an official form[1] prepared for this purpose, and must be completely filled
out. Forms may be secured from the Secretary-Treasurer of the Township.
See Appendix No. 13.

Editor's Note: A copy of the form is included at the end of this chapter.
4.Â
The application referred to in § 201(2) shall be accompanied
by the proper connection fee as established from time to time by resolution
of the Board of Supervisors, and the Township shall not be obligated
to accept an application unless the proper fee is tendered with it.
5.Â
Upon receipt of a properly executed application to connect, accompanied
by the proper connection fee, the Township shall issue a water system
connection permit to the property owner or appropriate representatives
for connection with said water main.
[Ord. 2004-2, 6/7/2005]
1.Â
No connection shall be made to the water system of the Township unless
the manner in which the connection is made and the materials and workmanship
employed in effecting such connection shall comply with the requirements
of the plumbing code adopted by the Londonderry Township Board of
Supervisors, if applicable, and with the rules and regulations of
the Township then in effect. It shall also be necessary for all connections
to comply with any special requirements imposed under § 202(8)
hereof,
2.Â
No person, firm or corporation shall be permitted at any time to
make a connection to the Township water system or to work upon or
repair or replace any part of the Township water system unless such
person, firm or corporation shall be licensed to do plumbing work
by the Board of Supervisors of Londonderry Township, if applicable.
3.Â
Any connection made to the water system of the Township by persons,
firms or corporations not licensed, as may be required, may be disconnected
from the water system. The Township specifically reserves the right
to refuse to render water service unless and until a proper connection
is made by a duly qualified person, firm or corporation. In the event
it shall be necessary for the Township to disconnect a property from
the water system under this Section, the cost of such work required
to be done by the Township may be charged against the property owner
and/or the person, firm or corporation making such improper connection.
4.Â
No person, firm or corporation who has obtained a permit and made
a connection to the Township water system shall connect or cause or
permit to be connected to the service line for which a permit has
been issued, another service line for the service of other property
or properties. (It is the intention of this Section to require a separate
and distinct permit and water connection for each individual building
or house whether constructed as a single-detached unit or as one of
a pair or row of houses or buildings; provided, however, a single
connection may be permitted to serve a school, factory, apartment
house or other permanent multiple-unit structure where the entire
property served through a single connection could not, under prevailing
circumstances, be split into two or more separate and sole ownerships).
5.Â
All connections to the water system of the Township shall comply
with the requirements of the plumbing code of Londonderry Township
in force at the time such connection is made, and regardless of the
requirements of the plumbing code, all service lines and connections
shall be constructed of the following materials and/or their equal
in quality as determined by the Township Engineer: Type K copper tubing
with flair fittings. All service lines to property or properties shall
be minimum 3/4 inch.
6.Â
The maintenance, repair and replacement of the water service line
leading from the property to the curb box and to the water main of
the Township shall be the responsibility of the person, firm or corporation
owning the property.
7.Â
No connection shall be made to the water system nor shall the trench
be covered or backfilled unless and until the service line and connection
have been inspected and approved by one of the following: the Township
Engineer, the designated Maintenance Superintendent for the Township,
or the Plumbing Inspector of Londonderry Township.
8.Â
Whenever, in the opinion of the Township Engineer or other duly authorized
representative of the Township, special conditions require additional
safeguards or more stringent specifications to be observed, then,
and in that event notwithstanding any other provisions of these regulations
or requirements of the Township Plumbing Code, the Township specifically
reserves the right to refuse to permit a connection to be made to
its water system until such requirements or specifications as may
be stipulated by the Township or its Engineer have been satisfied.
