The purpose of this chapter shall be to preserve the public
peace and good order in the area operated by the Town of Hamlin known
as "Town parks" and to contribute to the safety and enjoyment of the
users of the parkland by regulating the hours of use and by prohibiting
certain activities detrimental to customary park use.
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the
meanings indicated:
Town of Hamlin Recreation Commission personnel.[1]
Any land owned or leased by the Town of Hamlin and designated
as a Town park by resolution of the Town Board.
Town parks will be open to the general public from daylight
to 9:00 p.m. each day for the months of September through May and
open from daylight to 10:00 p.m. for the months of June, July and
August; otherwise they will be closed. During the hours that the parks
are closed, entrance to or occupancy of any park area is prohibited
except for persons on official government business.

No person shall injure, deface or disturb any part of the park, buildings,
structures, signs or equipment therein or remove, injure or destroy
any trees, flowers, shrubs, rocks or other minerals found therein.

No person shall set fire or assist another to any timber, trees,
shrubs, grass, leaves, growth or any other combustible material or
suffer any fire upon land to extend onto any part of the park.
C.Â
No person shall throw, cast, lay, drop, discharge, deposit, bring
or leave in any part of the park any garbage, sewage, refuse, waste
or other obnoxious material except in receptacles provided for such
purposes.
D.Â
No person shall use unreasonable, loud or obscene language or create
an unreasonable or loud noise with the intent to cause public inconvenience.
E.Â
No person shall endanger the life, limb or property of other visitors
to the park.
F.Â
There shall be no alcohol consumption or use of illegal substances
on Town parkland.
G.Â
No person shall hunt, trap or discharge any firearms, spring guns,
air guns, bows, slingshots or other instruments capable of propelling
an object within the parklands.
H.Â
No person shall introduce or carry firecrackers or fireworks on parklands.
I.Â
No person shall loiter or remain in a vehicle or otherwise after
the posted closing hours of a park.
J.Â
No person shall operate any motorized vehicle, such as automobiles,
motorcycles, minibikes, all-terrain vehicles, snowmobiles or the like,
within the parklands except maintenance, Recreation Commission personnel,
police and emergency vehicles. Properly licensed vehicles may be operated
on specifically designated roadways and parking areas. The speed limit
shall be 15 miles per hour.

All dogs must be leashed while in Town parks.
L.Â
No person shall ride a horse in Town parks.
M.Â
No person shall interfere with any officer of the Town, county or
state in the performance of his or her duties.
The Town of Hamlin Superintendent is charged with the administration
of this chapter and the posting of signs designating parklands and
park regulations.
A.Â
Any person committing an offense against any provision of this chapter
shall be guilty of a violation punishable of a fine not to exceed
$250 or by imprisonment for a term not exceeding 15 days, or by both
such fine and imprisonment. The continuation of any offenses against
the provisions of this chapter shall constitute for each occurrence
of an offense a separate and distinct offense hereunder.
