This chapter shall be known as the "Tourist Camp, Trailer, House
Trailer and House-Trailer Park Ordinance of the Town of Hamlin, Monroe
County, New York."
The purpose of this chapter is to regulate tourist camps, trailers,
house trailers and house-trailer parks, to promote the health, safety,
morals and general welfare of the community and to protect and preserve
the property of the Town of Hamlin, Monroe County, New York, and its
inhabitants.
In their interpretation and application, the provisions of this
chapter are held to be minimum requirements. Whenever the requirements
of this chapter are at variance with the requirements of any other
lawfully adopted rules, regulations or ordinances, the one most restrictive
or the one that imposes the highest standard shall govern.
This chapter shall apply to all existing and or future tourist
camps, trailers, house trailers and house-trailer parks.
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the
meanings indicated:
CAMPING UNIT
Includes motor home, tent, trailer, ten trailer, pickup camper,
travel trailer, bus motor home or any temporary facility used for
sleeping or living or housing.

HOUSE TRAILER
Any portable or mobile vehicle used and designed for living
and/or sleeping purposes and propelled either by its own power or
by any other power-driven vehicle to which it may be attached, whether
or not its wheels have been removed. This definition includes automobile
trailers, house cars, mobile homes or any other similar expression.
Any such vehicle which, when located on a piece of ground and ready
for occupancy or which is occupied as sleeping or living quarters,
shall be more than 13 feet in width (exclusive of any so-called "tip-out"
extension not over eight feet in width and which comes as an integral
part of the manufactured unit) shall be deemed a dwelling and not
an automobile trailer, house trailer, house car or mobile home.
HOUSE-TRAILER PARK
Any piece of ground upon which one or more house trailers
are located, or so subdivided to be used as such, and/or where accommodations
for house trailers are provided.
PARCEL
A piece of ground which is a part or a portion of a larger
piece of ground and which has certain minimum measurement requirements.
TOURIST CAMP
Any piece of ground upon which one or more camping units
are used by transients or so divided to be used as such. These camps
could also be referred to as parks, courts, overnight stops or any
other similar expression and are reserved only for the exclusive use
of camping units.

TRAILER
Any vehicle designed to be hauled or pulled by an automotive
vehicle. This vehicle may or may not have its wheels removed.
TRAVEL TRAILERS
Includes motor homes, house trailers, campers, house coaches
and houses on wheels, and this article adopts by reference the definitions
used by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles.
