It shall be the policy of the County of Suffolk to administer
in its health centers and facilities mercury-free vaccines to pregnant
women and children age three and under.
The Commissioner of the Department of Health Services is hereby
authorized, empowered and directed to take all actions necessary and
appropriate to implement this policy in all County public health centers
and facilities by December 31, 2006.
The Commissioner of the Department of Health Services may authorize
the use of vaccines containing mercury when he or she determines it
is necessary to respond to a public health emergency and/or there
are insufficient amounts of mercury-free vaccines to adequately protect
the public health.
