A.
All signs shall be maintained in substantially the same condition as when installed. Normal wear and tear of aged signs shall be repaired when it detracts from the visible quality of the sign, as reasonably determined by the Building Inspector or the Code Enforcement Officer of the Town of Bethany Beach.
B.
Repairs shall be made in a manner consistent with the approved sign permit or Nonresidential Design Review Committee approval of the sign (paint colors shall match, etc.). When wall signs are removed, the wall behind the sign shall be repaired and painted to match the rest of the building wall.
Any sign, including its supporting structure, which no longer identifies the current occupant of the property shall be deemed an abandoned sign after the passage of 90 days from the time the sign ceased to identify the current occupant. Abandoned signs shall be removed by the owner of the property on which it is located within 30 days of receiving written notice from the Building Inspector or the Code Enforcement Officer demanding the sign be removed.
Any sign that in the reasonable opinion of the Building Inspector or Code Enforcement Officer is unsafe or insecure shall be deemed an unsafe sign and shall be corrected or removed, together with any supporting structure, by the owner of the property on which the sign is located, within 72 hours of written notice by the Office of the Building Inspector.
