Vehicles and traffic — See Ch. 216.
No person shall set up, use, or drive in the Town any unlicensed
taxicab or motor vehicle for the conveyance of passengers for hire
from place to place.
The Board of Selectmen may license taxicabs or motor vehicles
for the conveyance of persons for hire from place to place within
the Town. They may revoke such licenses at their discretion. A record
of all licenses so granted or revoked shall be kept by the Board of
Selectmen.
Vehicle for hire licenses shall expire annually on the 31st
day of December. Licenses shall not be transferred. A license granted
shall become void if the applicant neglects or refuses to take out
and pay for his/her license within 10 days after notice that it has
been granted.
The Board of Selectmen may grant to the holder of a license
under this chapter a license to use a certain portion of a public
way as a carriage stand for the solicitation of passengers for hire.
No person shall use any portion of any public way for such purpose
without such license.
