There is hereby created the Green Team in the Township of Bethlehem for the purpose of instituting sustainable environmental practices within the territorial limits of the Township of Bethlehem in order to build a community that is environmentally responsible, cost effective, and a productive and healthy place to live, learn and work.
A. 
The Green Team shall comprise three members of the Environmental Commission. Upon the recommendation of the Environmental Commission, the Township Committee may appoint two additional members to the Green Team. The total membership of the Green Team shall not exceed five members. All Green Team members shall be residents of Bethlehem Township and shall be appointed by the Township Committee, by resolution, in its sole discretion. All Green Team members shall serve on a voluntary basis and without compensation.

B. 
The terms of office of the first Green Team shall be for one year.
C. 
The governing body of the municipality may remove any member of the Green Team at its discretion.
D. 
A vacancy on the Green Team occurring otherwise than by expiration of a term shall be filled for the unexpired term in the same manner as an original appointment.
E. 
A vacancy occurring otherwise than by expiration of the term shall be filled by appointment of the Mayor for the unexpired term only.
The Green Team shall have the power to conduct research on sustainable environmental practices and may coordinate the activities of unofficial bodies organized for similar purposes and may advertise, prepare, print and distribute books, maps, charts, plans and pamphlets which, in its judgment, it deems necessary for its purposes. The Green Team shall have the power to study and make recommendations to the Township governing body with regards to sustainable environmental practices. The Green Team may participate in various certification programs, including but not limited to community education and outreach; education for sustainability programs; energy audit for municipal facilities; wind ordinance; sustainable land use pledge; farmland preservation; open space plan; Environmental Commission, natural resource inventory; tree planting programs, and recycling depot. The Green Team shall act as the coordinating agency of the Township on sustainable environmental practices and as a liaison between conservation needs and regional, county, state and federal agencies and private agencies ministering to those needs.
