§ 21-1 Statutory authority.

This article is enacted pursuant to the authority provided in § 3-300, Subdivision 2(a), of the New York State Village Law extending residency required for any appointed Village officer, including the Acting Village Justice, from the jurisdictional limits of a village to the jurisdictional limits of the county in which the village is situated.

§ 21-2 Eligibility of Acting Village Justice.

Section 3-300, Subdivision 2, of the Village Law is hereby amended and superseded in its application to the Village of Woodridge to provide that the Acting Village Justice of the Village of Woodridge at the time of his/her appointment and throughout his/her term of office need not be a resident of the Village of Woodridge so long as he/she resides in the County of Sullivan and the State of New York.

§ 21-3 Amendment to Village Law.

A new sentence is hereby inserted at the end of § 3-300, Subdivision 2, of the Village Law to read and provide as follows: "The Acting Village Justice of the Village of Woodridge at the time of his/her appointment and throughout his/her term of office need not be a resident of the Village of Woodridge so long as he/she resides in the County of Sullivan and State of New York."
