A. 
The City of Socorro has had an unwritten policy of "no additional charges" for weed pickup for City residents.
B. 
The present "no additional charge" weed policy has been interpreted by City staff to include the following conditions:
(1) 
Weeds and grass clippings shall be bagged.
(2) 
Branches shall be cut to a maximum length of four feet.
(3) 
All debris shall be placed outside of private property (City right-of-way) but must not affect the flow of traffic or the use of City streets and/or sidewalks.
C. 
Over time, the "no additional charge" weed pick-up service has expanded beyond the original intended and desired scope.
D. 
In order to continue providing a service within the standard monthly charge as originally planned, residents shall be asked to comply with the conditions as outlined above or be assessed an additional usage fee for those services outside of the scope herein described.
A. 
There shall be no charge for yard waste which is one pickup truck load or less and is placed on the back of the curb or other City right-of-way (not affecting vehicle or pedestrian traffic) and contains:
(1) 
Bagged grass clippings, leaves, etc.
(2) 
Weeds, piled or bagged.
(3) 
Branches cut to four feet or less.
(4) 
Christmas trees.
B. 
There shall be a fee of $7.50 for yard waste which is one pickup truck load or less and is placed on the back of the curb or other City right-of-way (not affecting vehicle or pedestrian traffic) and contains:
(1) 
Grass clippings and leaves which are not bagged.
(2) 
Branches which exceed four feet in length.
C. 
The fee for yard waste which is greater than one pick up truck load, placed on the back of the curb or other City right-of-way (not affecting vehicle or pedestrian traffic) and can be collected without the need of a backhoe or other machinery shall be $10 times the number of loads plus $30 per ton.
D. 
The fee for yard waste which is greater than one pickup truck load, placed on the back of the curb or other City right-of-way (not affecting vehicle or pedestrian traffic) and requires the use of a backhoe or other machinery shall be $20 times the number of loads plus $30 per ton.
Construction debris shall not be placed for collection by the City.

The following fees shall be charged for collection and disposal of appliances and furniture:
A. 
Charge per appliance: $5.
B. 
Charge per piece of furniture: $5.

All items (yard waste, appliances, furniture, with the exception of construction debris) placed in the City right-of-way will be collected by City personnel and the appropriate charges will be made.
All charges will be placed on the City bill which corresponds to the address at which the items are collected.
All yard waste, appliance and furniture not placed on the back of the curb or other City right-of-way shall not be collected.
All fees herein described may be changed by resolution.
