GENERAL REFERENCES
Municipal employees retirement — See Charter, Section 803.
The Town hereby accepts the provisions of § 7-425 et seq. of the Connecticut General Statutes, relating to retirement of municipal employees, for all full-time employees of all departments with the exception of the employees of the Police and Fire Departments and with the exception of elective officials.
The Town shall apply for membership and participate in the old age and survivors insurance system under Title II of the Social Security Act, as amended, in accordance with Public Act No. 408 of the 1955 Public Acts (§§ 7-451 and 7-459 of the General Statutes), as of the first day of July, 1956, for all its employees, with the exception of services of an emergency nature; services in any class or classes or part-time positions; services in any class or classes of positions the compensation for which is on a fee basis, and the employees excluded by Section 3 of the said Public Act No. 408. And that the Town Council shall execute on behalf and in the name of the Town any and all agreements with the State Employees' Retirement Commission for the aforesaid purpose, in accordance with and subject to provisions of said Public Act No. 408 and subject to the regulations promulgated by the State Employees' Retirement Commission pursuant to such public act. And that the Town Council and Board of Water Commissioners of the Town be and hereby are authorized and directed to make deductions from the wages of the employees participating in the aforesaid old age and survivors insurance system, as required by Section 2 of such Public Act No. 408, and to forward the amount thereof together with the contribution of the Town to the State Employees' Retirement Commission in manner and form prescribed by the regulations.
A. 
The Town requests the Governor of the state to authorize a referendum of the employees currently covered by the Connecticut Municipal Employees Retirement Plan.
B. 
Be it resolved that the Town Council shall execute on behalf and in the sum of the Town any and all agreements with the State Employees' Retirement Commission for the aforesaid purpose in accordance with and subject to the provisions of Public Act No. 408 and subject to regulations promulgated by the State Employees' Retirement Commission, pursuant to such public act, and be it further resolved, that the Town Council and Chairman of the Water Commission of the Town be and are hereby authorized and directed to make deductions from the wages of the employees participating in the aforesaid old age and survivors insurance system, as required by Section 2 of such Public Act No. 408, and to forward the amount thereof, together with the contributions of the Town, to the State Employees' Retirement Commission in manner and form prescribed by such regulations.
The Town, acting herein by its representative Town meeting, subject to approval by its electors, at a meeting called for such purpose, hereby provides for inclusion of all the regular employees of the Fire Department in Fund "A" of the State Municipal Employees' Retirement Fund in accordance with the provisions of §§ 7-425 through 7-459, inclusive, of the General Statutes.
