The City of Sikeston hereby adopts the National Fire Protection
Code (NFPA) Chapters 19, 21 and 33 of the 2006 Edition. A copy of
which shall be maintained by the Department of Public Safety in the
Fire Division Command Office and upon request shall be made available
for public inspection.

All health care facilities, ambulatory care facilities and residential
board and care facilities within the City of Sikeston shall install
and maintain sprinkler systems in accordance with the National Fire
Protection Association Standard 13R. A copy of which shall be maintained
by the Department of Public Safety, Fire Division at its Command Office.

A.
Affected
businesses are required to have their sprinkler systems tested annually
by a qualified company. Certification of the annual inspection shall
be maintained on the premises in the sprinkler control room of the
affected business.

This
certification shall be made available, upon demand, to representatives
of the Sikeston Code Enforcement Office or to the Director of Public
Safety or his/her designee during the course of their inspections.
It shall also be made available when and if Department of Public Safety
officials conduct an investigation to determine the cause and origin
of a fire.

Any facility that is required to maintain a business licenses
issued by the City of Sikeston shall have said business license revoked
when it is found the affected business has not met the requirements
of this Article. The license shall remain revoked until all conditions
of this Article are met.
Any person who shall violate any provision of the code adopted
in this Article or shall fail to comply with any of the requirements
thereof or who shall erect, construct, alter or repair a building
or structure in violation of an approved plan of or directive of the
Code Official, or of a permit or certificate issued under the provision
of this code, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine
of not more than five hundred dollars ($500.00) or by imprisonment
not exceeding ninety (90) days, or both such fine and imprisonment.
Each day that a violation continues after due notice has been served
shall be deemed a separate offense.
