A Tourism Advisory Board for the City of Sikeston is established to provide advice and recommendation on tourism marketing, promotions and operations as funded through the City's lodging tax.

The Tourism Advisory Board shall be appointed by the City Council and shall consist of seven (7) members: two (2) members of the City Council, five (5) citizen representatives and may include non-voting ex officio representatives as may be deemed necessary by a majority vote of the Advisory Board.

A. 
Members shall be residents of Sikeston or be employed by a Sikeston business with a demonstrated interest in tourism.

B. 
In the initial appointments one (1) citizen member shall be appointed for a term of one (1) year, two (2) citizen members for a term of two (2) years and two (2) members for terms of three (3) years. All appointments thereafter made shall be for three (3) year terms commencing on the first (1st) Monday of October of each year.
C. 
Board members shall serve without compensation, however, upon the recommendation of the Board the City may reimburse Board members for travel incidental to Board functions.
D. 
Any vacancy in membership shall be filled for the unexpired term by appointment of the City Council.
E. 
The City Council may remove any citizen member for cause stated in writing and after public hearing.

Advisory Board members shall elect one (1) of their number to serve as Chairman and one (1) to serve as Vice Chairman who shall preside in the absence of the Chairman. The officers shall serve one (1) year or until their successors are elected.

The Advisory Board shall meet on an as-needed basis and shall keep a record of its proceedings. A quorum of four (4) voting members shall be present at any official meeting. An affirmative vote by a quorum of the Advisory Board members shall be necessary prior to any Advisory Board recommendation.

The Advisory Board shall report to the City Council at such times and in such manner as the Council shall direct.
