A. No person
shall be elected Mayor of said City of Lake Tapawingo, Missouri, who
shall not have attained the age of twenty-five (25) years or who is
not a qualified voter of the City of Lake Tapawingo.
B. No person shall be elected Mayor of the City of Lake Tapawingo, unless he/she shall possess the qualifications, as set out in Subsection
(A) and is an actual resident at the time of his/her election and has so resided one (1) whole year next before his/her election.

A. The Mayor
shall exercise general supervision over all officers, property and
affairs of the City and shall take care that all ordinances and laws
relating to the City are enforced and complied with.
B. The Mayor
shall preside over the Board of Aldermen at their meetings, but shall
not vote on a question that comes before the Board of Aldermen, except
in a case of a tie when he/she shall cast the deciding vote. The Mayor
shall not preside or vote in any case when he/she is personally an
interested party.
C. The Mayor
shall, from time to time, communicate to the Board of Aldermen such
measures as may, in his/her opinion, tend to the improvement of the
finances, the police, health, security, ornament, comfort and general
prosperity of the City.
D. The Mayor
or Board of Aldermen shall have power, as often as he/she or they
may deem it necessary, to require any officer of the City to exhibit
his/her accounts or other papers or records, and to make report to
the Board of Aldermen, in writing, touching any matter relating to
his/her office.
E. The Mayor
shall at all times be active and vigilant in looking after and caring
for the welfare of the City in enforcing all laws relating to the
City and deal promptly with all subordinate officers for failure to
perform or neglect to perform or the violation of any duty. When necessary
to call every able-bodied male inhabitant of the City, between the
ages of eighteen (18) and fifty (50) years to aid in the preservation
of peace and enforcement of the law, he/she may do so.
F. The Mayor
shall have power to remit fines and forfeitures, and to grant reprieves
and pardons for offenses arising under this Code or other ordinances
of the City; but this Section shall not be so construed as to authorize
the Mayor to remit any costs which may have accrued to any officer
of the City by reason of any prosecution under the laws or ordinances
of the City.
G. The Mayor,
with the consent and approval of the majority of the members of the
Board of Aldermen, shall have power to appoint a Treasurer, City Attorney,
City Assessor, Street Commissioner and night watchman, and such other
officers as he/she may be authorized by ordinance to appoint, and
if deemed for the best interests of the City, the Mayor and Board
of Aldermen may, by ordinance, employ special counsel to represent
the City, either in a case of a vacancy in the office of City Attorney
or to assist the City Attorney, and pay reasonable compensation therefor,
and the person elected Marshal may be appointed to and hold the office
of Street Commissioner.

The salary of the Mayor shall be a sum set by ordinance from
time to time.
